Playwell Park - Raleigh, NC

If Peter had it his way, every day would be Halloween. 🎃 And even though we’re 5 months out from the holiday, the kid has been jonesing for some Halloween action. So I racked my brain to figure out something that might scratch that itch. And then it dawned on me: the skeleton climbing wall in Playwell Park at the Poe Center for Health Education. 💀💀💀

Admittedly, Playwell Park is not Halloween themed - it is all about the human body and staying healthy. 💪 But that didn’t make any difference to the Halloween-obsessed 3-year-old when he got to climb the “spooky” skeleton. 💀

Regardless of your motive for checking out Playwell, the park is a great place to spend a morning or afternoon. There’s funky body-themed playground equipment, traditional playground equipment, rock climbing walls, and a maze. The park has plenty of covered seating, is stroller friendly, and has good shade. You can also find a Little Free Library where you can take a book.

The park itself does not have a bathroom, but it is located directly next to the Poe Center, where there are bathrooms. Lastly, the parking lot is not big, but we’ve never had a problem finding a spot interestingly enough.

And if you really need a full day out of the house, combine your visit to Playwell with a trip to see the goats and read a StoryWalk at Historic Oak View County Park just 4 minutes away.

Have you been to Playwell Park or the Poe Center? Anybody else wish there was actually a full Halloween-themed park in the Triangle? Let us know in the comments!
