Do you have any very hungry caterpillars looking to turn into beautiful butterflies? ššš¦ Well these dreams can come true on the butterfly bench in the Childrenās Wonder Garden at the North Carolina Botanical Garden!
Iām not sure why this is the first year weāre making it to this little childrenās haven at the Garden, but weāre here now and have absolutely loved it! Besides for this cute bench, there is also a fairy and gnome area where you can write and leave a letter for the gardenās magical inhabitants, a covered sand pit, seats, a bird blind, and wild flowers abound. Weāve found that this area has some good shade, with some areas completely covered by trees.
Other logistics:
ā¢ Located in the left-most part of the garden. It can be accessed directly from the parking lot by going to the left of the visitor center and classrooms, or you can walk a bit of the garden first and find the Childrenās Wonder Garden sign you see in photo 2, which is at the back of the classrooms building.
ā¢ The Garden is closed on Mondays and opens late at 1pm on Sundays.
ā¢ Thereās a medium amount of parking, but it can fill up.
ā¢ Bathrooms are easily located right in the building next to the sand pit. More restrooms are available in the visitors center, including a Motherās Room.
ā¢ Bring your bug spray.
ā¢ Accessibility wise, this might not be the easiest. However, we frequently see people with strollers here and all over the Garden because it uses a hard-packed gravel on a lot of trails. If anyone has been and has feedback on how they thought the accessibility was, feel free to add your perspective in the comments.
Stay tuned because we have a second post coming Friday with another cool, beat-the-heat feature that you can utilize while at the Garden!
