The hot weather is coming for us, folks, and that means shifting from our winter parks to our summer parks. For us, summer parks = shade. Ya know, so we won’t turn into lobsters and/or die. 🦞🫠😂 Over the next few weeks, we’re hoping to highlight some places you can get outdoors, but still have shade or a reprieve from the sun.
First up: Annie Jones Park in Town of Cary. This is one we’ve been holding on to for a while because we discovered it right as temps were dipping last fall and the tree cover made it a bit chilly. (Hence the fall foliage and puffy jacket in the photos.) We knew, though, that this secluded little playground would be a great place to hang out when summer came back.
A few logistics:
• Mulch playground and sand area.
• Bathrooms available.
• Besides the playground, this park has tennis courts, a baseball field, and basketball courts.
• Good amount of parking right by the playground.
• Paved greenway access.
• Not many benches, but seems commensurate with the playground’s size.
Have you been to Annie Jones Park? Let us know in the comments!
